Brothers: A Filmmaker and Mentor

Tuesday, August 10, 2010 by Shalom Talk
On August 15, 2010, ShalomTalk will feature an interview with Joe Goulder, co-creator of Engine 7 Films.

When Joe came to L.A., his career goal was acting. But initial success in the industry led him to a different path, to producing films himself. While in film school learning the craft, Joe formulated a plan with his brother, Jeremy, who was involved in mentoring youth.

The result is Engine 7 Films, a film company empowering the world for positive change. In fact, one of their better known documentaries is "Playing for Change", the story of a movement of folk and street musicians and others from all over the world out to change the world through music, with catalytic concerts, planning art and music schools in underdeveloped areas, and making recordings.

ShalomTalk host, Stuart Dauermann, says: Joel and Jeremy Goulder embody their own mission because they are young men out to change the world. Through their fascinating documentaries of the highest caliber, they are  challenging and encouraging others to also do what they can to fulfill the challenge voiced by Mahatma Ghandi:  “Be the change you want to see in the world.”

Moshav Band on ShalomTalk!

Tuesday, August 3, 2010 by Shalom Talk
On August 8, 2010, ShalomTalk will feature an interview with Yehuda Solomon, leader of the Moshav Band.

To thousands of fans, the Moshav Band is more than a musical group. It is an essential source of inspiration bringing timeless Jewish ideas into new musical expressions. Songs like "Eliyahu HaNavi," giving a new beat to a Shlomo Carlebach classic, are a new nusach for an ancient prayer. And "Shabbos Kodesh" uniquely brings the joys of Sabbath to a modern generation.

ShalomTalk host, Rabbi Dr. Stuart Dauermann, says of his interview with Yehudah Solomon, "Not only did we play clips of their music and talk about the history of the band, their friendship with Shlomo Carlebach and more, but we saw the human side of the Moshav Band. They are not people out to make a buck or a name for themselves, but are out to change the world for the better."
